Makrirachi Pelion Greece

Makrirahi, the village known for its flower plantations, is situated on a lusciously green slope of Mt Pelion, in the land of the mythical Centaurs. As you travel in East Pelion, on your way to the most beautiful beach of Mt. Pelion, the beach of Agii Saranta, you will come across a village surrounded by lush vegetation, the charming little village of Makrirahi. Makrirahi has a population of around 800 people and it took its name from the long slope (makria rahi) of the hill where it lies, at an altitude of 250m.

On August 25th the local “Flower Association” of the women from Makrirahi organise a huge flower exhibition in the village square. Here can take a walkabout and enjoy the beautiful colourful flowers that are on display.

You can visit the church of Agios Ioannis Prothromos, Proifiti Hilia, Agioi Arargiroi and Agios Konstantinos. For swimming, you must go to the magnificent sandy beach of Agioi Saranta, which is one of the most beautiful in Pelion, or the beaches of Agios Ioannis and Papa Nero.
